Refund policy

No-refund policy for digital subscriptions

INSTATuner is a digital subscription service. Once your account is provisioned and you gain access to the editor, library, dyno generator, and any downloadable artifact (BIN, .tune sidecar, dyno PDF), the service has been delivered in full and is not refundable.

By completing checkout you expressly request immediate provisioning and acknowledge that you will lose any statutory cooling-off / withdrawal right that would otherwise apply to fully-performed digital services (per EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(m), and equivalent national transpositions).

What "delivered in full" means here

At the moment your subscription becomes active, the entire feature surface is unlocked. There is no separate shipping step, no manual fulfilment, and no waiting period. From the first second you log in:

  • the AI File Editor opens and you can edit any cell in any map
  • the library of ready-made Stage 1 / 2 / 3 files becomes searchable + downloadable
  • the dyno-sheet generator produces print-ready PDFs
  • every map, hex view, DTC editor, compare and quota is accessible

Because of that, partial-use refunds, "I changed my mind" refunds, and pro-rata refunds are not offered.

Narrow exceptions we do honour

We will issue a full refund within 30 days of the original charge in these specific cases:

  • Duplicate charge — the same subscription was billed twice for the same period.
  • Provisioning failure — your account was charged but the subscription never activated and we are unable to fix it.
  • Unauthorised charge — the card or PayPal account was used without your consent. Provide a police report or bank dispute reference.
  • Service materially unavailable — the platform was down for more than 72 consecutive hours during your active billing period due to our fault. Pro-rata credit issued, not a cash refund.

Email billing@tuning-database.co.uk with your order reference and the matching exception above. We respond within two working days.

What is NOT a valid refund reason

  • "I tuned a file and the result was not what I expected." Tuning is provided as-is — see the Liability section in the Terms.
  • "My ECU did not accept the file." Compatibility validation is your responsibility before flashing.
  • "I forgot to cancel before renewal." Auto-renewal is announced via email at least 7 days in advance and is cancellable any time from My Account.
  • "I only used it once." Subscriptions are flat-rate access, not per-use credits.
  • "I bought the wrong tier." You can upgrade and we credit the unused portion of your current tier toward the new one.

Cancellation

You can cancel auto-renewal at any time from My Account on tuning-database.co.uk. Cancellation stops future charges; it does not produce a refund of the current period. You keep editor + library access until the period ends.

Lifetime tier purchases are not subject to cancellation — there is nothing to cancel. They are also not refundable beyond the narrow exceptions above.

Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback through your card issuer or PayPal without first contacting us at billing@tuning-database.co.uk, your account is automatically suspended pending the dispute. Most issues resolve in under 48 hours when raised directly with us — chargebacks should be the last resort, not the first.

Refund timing when granted

When a refund is approved under one of the narrow exceptions, funds appear on the original payment method within 5–10 business days for Stripe, up to 14 business days for PayPal, and up to 21 business days for bank transfers, depending on your bank.

Statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable consumer-protection right that applies to you under your local jurisdiction. EU/UK consumers retain rights under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (UK) where applicable, except for the cooling-off waiver you accepted at checkout for an immediately-provisioned digital service.
